Jon Alan - **The Turning

The vibrant colors of autumn's call
Are emerging suddenly, it is Fall
As Mother Nature makes it clear
That though we wish the leaves remain green
It is the rule of the each spinning year

And as it is so, it is time for me
To feel the turning from summer's breeze
As my bones and body tell me so
Autumn is calling me to my home

To feel the changes that spell my age
The rainbow colors inside me engage
My bones and my energy begin to glow
Out from my body, I begin to slow

I share the passing of the tree's green leaves
I'm feeling the season as it slowly weaves
Its way along this ancient stream
As man and Nature share this dream

And we both seem to somehow know
That from some distant inner place
Winter is surely coming
But first we join to enjoy Fall's grace

Though it plays upon my aching frame
As I watch the leaves turn to flame
And see my self much grayer and slowed
Sleep comes less as I ponder this road

With its rules for trees and same for humans
The stern rule of Nature must not be undone
Yet in this dream we can have some fun
As we travel the path set out for each one
Of Mother Nature's daughters and sons
