Candlelight


I love to write by candlelight
In the quiet stillness of the night
I feel as if I'm redefined
Back to another place and time

The still and quiet solitude
Makes me ponder with gratitude
Of all the old sages long ago
Who penned their thoughts in candle glow

A soothing breeze now enters in
Gently waking hairs on skin
Now a shiver comes over me
I turn my head but none too see

Could it be a sage from past
Here to help inspire at last
I often wonder were my thoughts come from
Like a candle in the wind I succumb

My pen races over page
Emotion flowing, Love...Life...Rage
I write with fury as it flows
Where it comes from, heaven knows

Then comes a time when words are few
Sitting not knowing what to do
I'll just wait for the quiet of night
When my old friends and I write by candlelight
