Johnson Explains Talks About Rey's Parentage

In a chat with Empire Magazine, Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson revealed new details about his writing process. He spilled the beans on one of the biggest spoilers in the movie. Rey's parentage was a huge question mark when the film was released. Earlier, in The Force Awakens, it was hinted that Rey's parents were important Jedi's. In The Last Jedi, Kylo tells Rey her parents were “nobodies.” They were supposedly scrap dealers on Jakku.
