johnny dodo - The Slayer

a thousand times he's walked the world
for countless more will he toil
through the dust and debris
of ages past and yet to dawn
his only companion a monstrous blade
within it lies secrets from the beginning
till the end of days when all will fade
and be forgotten like a dream
reduced to ash, in the fire burn
swept away in the wind
dead leaves cracked and dry
broken and beaten by time
that noble voice whispered
loud and clear in a empty room
the sound of deaf ears
falling, for a moment too soon
in the dark they see the light
but only shadows remain
of their former lives
as dead men whistle passing by
slipping back into the night
