John Scully - Jaywick Sands

I need the sun and sea
the pinks, the greens and yellow caravans
the weathered boarded holiday homes
so isolated in winter squalls
but loved in summer highs.
The need for the cry of gulls
a single spray of salty water on my face
the light of a moon and a distant star
when I walk along the rocky shore
of Jaywick, a stones throw
from a grey and dismal Harlow.
