John Roche - Blinkered

He rides the rocky road to ruin,
not bothered by regret;
so blind to his impending doom,
oblivious as yet,

to pitfalls scattered 'cross the trail,
which cannot be bypass'd.
This narrow-minded, blinkered male,
so callow and so crass,

refusing to accept the risk,
inherent in his way;
his manner, arrogant and brisk,
so obvious this day.

I wait with patience for the time
he takes that step too far,
and topples from his pedestal,
extinguishing his star.
