Description

AS THE STREET LIGHTS STAB THE BELLY OF THE DAWN
the darkness winces in stars flicker
but the leaves grow green greedy
to possess the fleeting night
as veins strain to retain the cold
with all their might
the creak of the trees
follows with ease
at the blue that floods the sky
the clutch of night must fade away
for the implicit reason why
The street lights all withdraw
and the belly drips onto Earth
the dew of life, of manna, of new
light bathes the waters calm
Awakened now, the pavement is warm
for the sole of spirit's foot.
