John Parsons - Floridian Sonnet
51 Views • Jun 15, 2014
Description
On a delicate Florida beach.
I observe everything. I see
People litter and drive Hummers. They have no idea what a leech
Their actions are to this Earth.
My palm fronds wilt
To watch humanity destroy its own hearth.
Look at this world the God of Nature has built.
And they destroy it!
What a foolish thing
To do! What'll happen after I die? Will the lid of the atmosphere fit
All the Poison in the air? Will it fling
Away into outer space? Will this be Venus,
Sulphuric, or still be Earth, thanks to somebody's genius?
