John Kipling Lewis - layers and buses

Layers of talking too numerous to decipher,
the bus is full of tangled snippets;

'he is with her'
'and I can't listen'
'I'll call you'
'look out at that guy'
'suck on'
'because it has to be neutral'
'you know what? '

my iPod can't overwhelm the voices as they rise
to screams in the increasing volume needed to
be heard over the other conversations.

I fight to hold my senses, tuned too well from
paranoia, but I want to sCREAM 'SHUT UP! '

Instead i simply wait
my stop will eventually
come and
my own internal
voices can continue
