Description

For the past 3 days you’ve been hanging there
patient,
like you know something,
like you’re biding your time, and I don’t like it,
stupid moon, you’ve never bothered me before,
but lately
you’ve been making me itch (it’s not
the pills, I refuse
to blame it on
those magical
milligrams) , stupid moon, it’s all your fault, coming out during the day like that,
following me around,
poking your nose into my daylight business, you’re making me edgy (it’s not
lack of sleep or the hangover, I refuse
to blame it on
my wonderful
lifestyle) , stupid moon, you pretend to be so innocent, all white
and round like you are, like your symbolism
is enough to convince me, stupid moon, I know better,
I’ll get you one of these days; I’ll
blow you out of the skies,
I’ll gut you and skin you,
I’ll bury your remains, stupid moon, to hell with your craters
and your power over the tides,
to hell with your
oh-
so-important orbit, and to hell
with my neighbors, watching me through their windows,
while I stare drunkenly at your face,
shaking my fist
like an impotent old man.
