John A. Hancock - Sonnet # 48 The First Snowflake

Held aloft by the angry winter winds
A single speck of white it falls
Gently doth it ride the rising currents
To no particular place at all
Tis truly a wonderous work of art
There is no two alike in the world to see
Whilst it lands among an ocean of rustic colours
Covering a sea of wither'd green
It lays there briefly just for a moment
Then quickly melts its short life tis no more
The first snowflake having just arrived paves the way
To what the coming winter has in store
Yearly do the children await for the first snowflake to arrive
For they know tis only a matter of time there be amble snow outside
