Ciaran Gribbin is Joe Echo! I am a singer/songwriter and I have just started out again with a solo project called Joe Echo, after being the singer in Leya for Nearly 8 years. During that time with Leya we toured everywhere supporting great bands like Franz Ferdinand, Snow Patrol, Scissor Sisters, Interpol, Embrace and many more. I'm very proud of what we acheived as a band. We recorded all our own material, made hundreds of friends and last year released our debut album "watch you dont take off" to critical acclaim. You can get it on Dublin Label Rubyworks Records. Sadly Leya came to an end a few months back but the good news is that we parted on really good terms. We all remain great friends and I'm sure we will work together on music very soon. The music I am writing now is a different in many ways than the Leya sound. I want the Joe Echo sound to be up , groove orientated, even more lifting, but like the Leya sound I want it to be real, and passionate. Basically I'm trying to make music that moves your heart and soul as well as your feet!. But that direction could change over night. I'm trying out new instruments and taking influences from loads of music, so who knows what the debut Joe Echo album will sound like? One thing I can say is that I'm enjoying myself making the music. That can't be a bad thing! So WHY JOE ECHO? Simple really. I wanted to re-invent myself in everyway and I started with the name. I wanted a name that was fresh and that I could relate to. My grandfathers name was Joe, my dogs are called Joey and Jo Jo, my guitar is an EKO, and I have loads of old echo and delay pedals lying around. So JOE ECHO was born!
