jkd jkd - fall

Description
leave taking
another summer gone
and we both know
it will have been your last one
so, as we are sitting here
in our favourite place by the lake
I take your hand
brown, dry and wrinkled
like fallen leaves
the many words we have spoken here
still linger on between us
as we are sitting in silence
you may be searching for words
in the recesses of your brain
but then you may as well not
how could I tell?
how would I know?
all I can do is hold your hand
and the tear that falls
into your open palm
says it all
salty and clear
I will miss you when you‘re gone
but you may go peacefully
