Like the monotone dialling sounds of the phone
Being drawn in and out

Pressing
For an answer

Pressing
Into the lives of others
Slowly, undetected

Oh! How the chase
Ended up in vain
And smoke

Smoking l'l chimneys
of CO2

Pressing
and stomping
and mouthing the words-

Why don't you answer?
Why don't you answer?

And there went-
the monotone sound
in the receiver.
