Jim O'Donnell - The Stonemason

The stonemason chisel rings out loud
Carving out stone to make people proud
He writes on your tombstone for all to see
Proud of his work happy is he

To tell someone’s story in a few little lines
Of all of the loved ones that they left behind
To tell of the sadness and of the pain
One things for sure we all end the same

The chink of his chisel the words do unfold
So many stories this man has told
The marble it splinters its dust in the air
Hard at his work he still takes great care

The words start appearing he thinks for a while
Who will carve his in this old fashioned style?
