At first the patter of a couple of raindrops
Increasing in frequency
Tacklings and cracklings
onto the glass roof above
Children pause mid-pen and look around.
Above the grey heavens
bucket us and sluice us of dust
Smash and swash
Puddle after puddle spattered
Islands of soaking lawn
disconsolate postman
pensive blackbird
Sky clears
another chance in the afternoon Sun.
