Description

In not being content
With one’s self

A humanness in
The confusion.

There’s a fear of the dark
That stalks some children

A longing to return
To the ‘safety’ of the darkness
As they become aware of self.

There’s a melancholy
In the survival of age
A stillness in the reservoir
Of a troubled mind
Like a siren-song calling
You to ‘the edge’

Resolution in the poet’s hand
That spills words that sooth
Upon a page and float like a kite
Attached and free, for all
To see and ponder upon
Lifting ‘a burden’
And cutting its ‘string’.

There’s a celebration
In friendships ‘then’ and ‘now’
That keeps the heart and soul
Smiling and the ‘eye of the beholder’
Focused on opportunities to give.
