Jesse Ellsbury - Why?

When I see my world is fading,
Beneath mine eyes that still hold gazing,
One thought that does occur to me is:
Why?

When I see my friends betraying,
As one by one they keep on saying
That they are still my friends:
But why?

When I see my strength is ebbing,
Despite my tries to keep from stepping,
Into the abyss that is my mind:
But why?
