Jerusalem on high alert after Friday prayers
25 Views • Nov 07, 2014
Description
Palestinian protesters clashed with Israeli security forces in occupied East Jerusalem and the occupied West Bank.
There has been a fortnight of violence after attempts by hardline Jews to pray in the Al Aqsa mosque complex, Islam’s third holiest site.
Meanwhile, an Israeli man injured when a Palestinian driver rammed his car into pedestrians on Wednesday died of his injuries on Friday. Four people have now died in two separate attacks on pedestrians in the past three weeks.
In retaliation, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered that the homes of Palestinians in Jerusalem accused of carrying out the attacks be demolished.
The EU’s new foreign affairs chief Federica Mogherini said on Friday Israel and the Palestinians must return to the negotiating table.
