Jep and Dep are a folk noir, country twanged acoustic Duo from Sydney. Jep and Dep are Jessica Cassar and Darren Cross. Jessica likes to drink Whiskey and Darren likes to listen to Townes Van Zandt.
Taking atmospheric cues from Neil Young and Phil Spector with the vocal styles of Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra, Nick Cave and Kylie Minogue–Jep and Dep are beautifully dark, dramatic and romantic.
Jep and Dep’s sound harks back to the way songs were recorded in the 60′s– live and in one take. No auto tune. No vocal trickery. Just a song, two singers and a vintage acoustic guitar.
This year Jep and Dep have supported the likes of Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Matt Walker, Mia Dyson, Hatz Fitz and Cara, Kristen Hersh, Raised by Eagles, Tracey McNeil Band and Lindi Ortega (CA) as well as playing every and any folkie hole in the wall that they can from Tasmania to Berlin.
Last month Jep and Dep were added to 150 College Music radios stations around the United States and recorded their Debut Album WORD GOT OUT which is scheduled for a fierce and independent release late October 2014.
WORD GOT OUT the duo’s debut album will be released October 23rd 2014.
