Jennifer Sol - Imperfect People

It’s all fading into a distant memory
The days when al you needed was
A kiss and a Band-Aid
When a cookie made you the happiest
Kid in the world
When the most trivial decision you had to make
Was whether to wear blue or purple socks
Those days are in the past now
We all wish we could go back
We’re faced with tears of broken hearts
Ghosts of the happy children we used to be
We wear make up to cover our imperfections
Every word we say is an attempt to impress
Our smiles are no longer real
They’re fake smiles just to show everyone
That we’re just fine
When really we cry ourselves to sleep at night
We’re constantly on our knees
Crying out to some one, anyone who will listen
Always we forget that God
Is there to carry us on our path
It may be broken and covered in brush
But he’ll take us through
We’ll end up with a few scars here and there
We shouldn’t hide them
For they shape who we are now
An imperfect people
