I am always waiting
Waiting for everything
Waiting, waiting, waiting
For anyone, anything.

I wait for the sun to rise each morning
And to set again that night
For dark to come from daytime
Then turn back into light
For leaves to grown each summer
Then be killed be winter snow
For flowers to arrive from nothing
To form a multicolored show
I wait for people to return,
And maybe come back home
For them to run away again
And for me to be left alone
For days to creep by slowly
Taking another step toward death
And the nights to turn much blacker
Forming one less final breath.

I am always waiting
