Jeffrey Tillery - My First Firefly
4 Views • Oct 29, 2014
Description
For the upteenth time
Crossing Columbus Circle
At Broadway and 59th
Risking life and limb
to get into The Park
Shake off all the high-rise noise
before it gets too dark
As I step into the spray of trees
The City disappears
The granite studded lawn soaks up
the assault on my ears
I take a path into a grove
My eyes start to adjust
Has Tinker Bell just passed me by?
A trail of Fairy dust?
Has someone hit me on the head?
Am I seeing stars?
Why are children chasing them
with gaping Mason jars?
The first time I've seen fireflies
And worthy of remark
An unexpected treasure
Walking through Central Park
