Description

One velvety soft
desert night;
in a moonless sky,
the stars shone bright.

Throughout the hills,
a primal sound:
with rhythmic voice,
the drums resound.

The red-orange glow
of campfire light,
holds back the
encircling hand of night.

About the fire,
the revelers stand;
the festive cup
passed hand to hand.

A sultry song
the piper plays,
while back and forth
the dancers sway.

A form appears
out of the dark,
that dances with
a magical spark.

Tall and slender,
veil in place,
her movements have
a liquid grace

Dazzling jewels,
of sapphire hue,
her eyes enchant
each heart in view

Throughout the camp,
the whispers run:
now who is she,
who is this one?

A dancer with
less skill and grace,
hurries away,
hands over her face.

The rest stand in awe
at all they’ve seen
a dancer with the bearing
of a queen.

Before she vanished,
like a mist on the sea,
she lowered her veil
and whispered: 'Yasmin'
