Jeff Fleischer - Blinky McGee

It was a hot summer night
In the middle of July.
There were two outs in the 9th inning
And the Wildcats were two runs away from winning.
They had men on 2nd and 3rd,
But their chances of victory seemed quite absurd.
Cause up came Blinky McGee
Much to the Bulldogs' glee.
His batting average had take a nosedive
And he was 0 for his last 55.
Blinky hadn't swung a bat since the end of May
And some wished that he'd keep it that way.
Now the count was 0 and 2
When Blinky asked for time to tie his shoe.
Then the pitcher delivered a breaking ball
And Blinky swung hard towards the leftfield wall.
Everyone just stopped and stared
As he doubled down the leftfield line, just fair.
Blinky went from being a zero
To becoming the ballgame's hero.
