Das Wildschwein (Sus scrofa) gehört zur Familie der echten Schweine (Suidae) aus der Ordnung der Paarhufer. Das ursprüngliche Verbreitungsgebiet der Art reicht von Westeuropa bis Südost-Asien, durch Einbürgerungen in Nord- und Südamerika, Australien sowie auf zahlreichen Inseln ist es heute fast weltweit verbreitet.

The wild boar (Sus scrofa) is a family of real pigs (Suidae) from the order of Artiodactyla. The original range of the species extends from Western Europe to Southeast Asia, by naturalization in North and South America, Australia and on numerous islands it is common today almost worldwide.

O javali (Sus scrofa) é uma família de porcos autênticos (Suidae) da ordem de Artiodactyla. A distribuição original da espécie estende-se desde a Europa Ocidental para o Sudeste Asiático, por naturalização no Norte e América do Sul, Austrália e em várias ilhas é comum hoje em dia quase todo o mundo.
