Jason Summers - I and They
1 Views • Nov 10, 2014
Description
They said I needed reeducation.
The traditions were forgotten, but surely not lost.
They said they would make-up the tribal ways that were tossed.
Long, straight hair doesn't mean that you're native,
They said it doesn't matter 'cause we're all not related.
We're to be federally protected, but that's all wrong,
They said we couldn't keep our heritage too long.
I have cards to prove my culture,
They said, 'okay, but that's not for sure.'
Why must we wonder if the views will change?
They said the lands are not for the youthful aged.
