Jason Doyle - The Lake

My mind is a lake of ripples
Caused by past pebbles
That lap on the shore of my consciousness.
She was a rock.

My stormy sea of electricity
Charged by her smile
Sometimes gives a shock
And the storms compile
To remind me of all I never had.
It’s still so pure and beautiful.

Her eyes have the power to lull
The tempest of the serious
And all of that away from us
Make her laugh and you will see
Why that rock’s ripples still belabour me.
