Jasbir Chatterjee - Being Powerless

I often get a terrible feeling
These days
Of being powerless
Helpless,
Of grappling
Against forces
Beyond my control…

I shout,
I protest,
I scream,
I grumble
I cry,
But all in vain…
Because it’s all part of nature…

Everything that takes birth must die…
Everyone who is born must grow, fall in love, move away…
Everything that lives must change…
For better or worse,
And one can only watch helplessly
While the juggernaut of time
Tramples on everything that it steps on…

I shout,
I protest,
I scream,
I grumble
I cry,
But all in vain…
