Janice Windle - A Friend in Need
4 Views • Nov 10, 2014
Description
Two women, one frail and falling
in the plump kind arms of the other.
A trusting glance at me
on this hard grey station bench.
“I’ll be back”.
She makes towards Marks.
Her friend, white-faced and speechless,
lolls next to me.
“Sip the water slowly, dear”;
a hen-night gone too far, I hear.
I fear for this pale girl.
Hope they make it home
safe tonight to Haslemere.
“When’s the wedding? ”
“Soon, soon...” Oh dear....
