Janet Ramsden - Chairs.

Someone gave me a table, but said
'sorry, there are no chairs.'
What use is a damned table,
without any chairs.

I went out to search
for suitable table chairs.
There were
big chairs, little chairs,
deck chairs and swivel chairs.
Arm chairs, curly chairs,
tall chairs and small chairs, and
all this made me wonder,
who in hell invented the chair?

There were chairs in vogue and
chintzy covered chairs,
fancy leg and plush.
Wooden chairs, leather chairs
and chairs of moulded plastic.
Yuck!
Stiff and sturdy upright chairs,
which might look good at antique fairs,
but none of them went with my table.

All that shoppin' and still not found
any chairs to match my table. One
cheeky cockney even tried to sell
me his 'apples and pears'
when all i wanted was four damn chairs.
Whoever it was invented the chair,
didn't know what they'd started.
All around the world and back and
It really does make me wonder if
a magician invented the chair and
he must have been into 'wicca.'
