Little one… you remain…
the center of my soul
You are the child I cared for…
you made my circle whole

I know you don’t remember me…
the fun we had at play
You would hide and I would seek…
I miss it to this day

I have often closed my eyes…
imagining you are there
And memories of your happiness
are answers to my prayers

I love you more than life itself
yet you might never know
The hardest day I ever lived
the day I let you go

I taught you… to be the best…
at everything you do
I taught you… to reach for stars…
to make your dreams come true

You taught me… to love a child…
unconditionally
You taught me… the pain in loss…
of dreams in destiny

When the world stops turning…
when we breathe our last
In some heaven’s distant time…
our souls will find the past

Then you can tell me everything…
your growing that I’ve missed
And you will know that while I lived…
each night, your dreams, I kissed
