Description
Once upon a time of day
I was a-Lone, the month was May
I never knew what caused this thing
I should have been a-Dult that spring
But I was not, I was a-Lone
when someone called me on the phone
It was a-Buse, I wasn't home
I lied and said I was a-Dapt,
a-Lone had gone, that was a fact
Just then Oh what else should I hear?
Another ringing in my ear
and then a knock came at my door
I opened it to find a-Dore
Who said we must go out just then
We had a date to meet a-Gain
So with a click and with a clack
I hung the phone up, just like that
A-Buse could wait 'till I got back
Then we went out and down the street
I looked, Oh my who should we meet?
It was a-Buse, so indiscreet
To act as though we saw it not
To pass it by became our plot
But hark! My name flew though the air
It was a-Miss, life isn't fair
A-Miss was loud and we were seen
It was a mess a-Buse was mean
To show good things will seldom last
Trouble came and came a-Ghast
A-Ghast would not let us get past
And then as everything went wrong
Right behind it came a-Long
A-Long that sang a different song
They started to argue, me oh me,
So off I ran to find a-Gree
But when I was just out of voice
I realized, this was my choice
Then I sat down and breathed a moan
How good it was to be a-Lone!
