Description

An Old Friend

I rarely write words that have meaning
But lately my soul has been beaming

It was a very short time ago
I recieved news that made my blood flow

A friend from far back in my past
Had come to surface long at last

Her face was as it was then
Her hair, eyes, nose, and even chin

It made me realize what I had lost
Finally our paths had once again crossed

She meant the world to me when we parted
And now our friendship had been restarted

Young love was in the starting phase
But that love was back in those past days

Our friendship had never completely died
But for me childhood love was still inside

Though we've grown and both now married
The feelings I harbor I have always carried

Nothing will ever change our two lives course
I know it was set by an almighty force

Ultimately God himself will always show
What we should do and the path that we go

But I cannot deny I have at times aspired
To have the love my childhood desired

But I know that is simply out of the question
And would be met by even my own objection

So if I had a chance to see her again
I would hug her tightly and remember then

Remember the wonderful times that we had
The good, the indifferent, the joy and the sad

Hopefully when old and weary I will always recall
The girl who gave me the best friendship of them all
