James James - Country Cuzzins

The country cuzzin stopped amazed, at the things he saw and heard
Just violence, lust and avarice, complete four letter words.
'Go to the town' the folks had said, 'Go get your taste of life'.
So come he had, with cap in hand, some thoughts of finding wife.

But found instead of pavements gold, instead of waiting dreams
Was only greed and selfishness, and money grabbing schemes.
No neighbours there to educate, to light and show the way
Were only hands outreached like claws, protectors wanting pay.

Yet soon he swore as lustily, as those who lived in town,
And sinned and sexed as hungrily, no longer country clown.
He preyed and fed on others met from country roads inbound
Survived and grew on others sweat, and fattened as they drowned.

Now looking back on lines above, no sadness on his fall
For wise I think to understand, this fate awaits us all.
No country place is that old home, just peace before our birth
No sinning seedy town awaits, just life for what it's worth.
