Superman writer-director and DC Studios co-head shot down a rumor about when the Man of Steel's newest cinematic outing is set Gunn had also touched upon rumors of Supergirl's appearance in the project professing that he never even said she was in the movie. Over on Threads Gunn was asked if Superman is set in 2021 to which he replied No. Prior to this Gunn revealed what was wrong with a reported logline in 2023 that read Superman a cub reporter in Metropolis embarks on a journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent avowing at the time that he wasn't sure where the logline came from and that he didn't write it.
