Description

a note from the poet- to better understand this, read my other poem, 'A Stapler', and the comment by 'Edgar Grey' regarding it.)

Poetry does not need to say anything.
Why can't it merely express an abstract moment in time?
So many tears inspire me,
So much anger flows from my pen.
But-
Not everything has meaning.
Not everything is meant to, after all.
We poets understand that, I think.
We can write on our surroundings,
As well as our feelings.
(Though not all
Can adapt to such a mundane subject.)

Am I wrong to write on such a boring thing?
Am I wrong to be bored by a stapler?
Must everything I feel be a complex emotion?
Must a stapler poem apply to life?
Allow the nonsense to make sense,
And then you'll understand life.

(written in response to a comment left on my poem 'A Stapler')
