James Cunningham

James Cunningham est danseur et chorégraphe, australien. Suite à un accident de moto en 1992, il a perdu l'usage du bras gauche. Il danse sur scène avec une marionnette de substitution.

Né à Melbourne, après son "Advanced Certificate in Performance (Danse)" du Centre for the Performing Arts d’Adélaïde (87-88), il travaille avec les chorégraphes Cheryl Stock, Graeme Watson, Nanette Hassell, Chrissie Parrott, Jane Pirani, Sally Chance et Lloyd Newson. De 89 à 91, il rejoint la compagnie Dance North en tant qu’interprète.
En 1999 il reçoit une bourse du Australia Council pour continuer sa recherche chorégraphique. En 2000, il joue avec la compagnie anglaise DV8 Physical Theatre dans une création commandée par le Olympic Arts Festival à Sydney, jouée aussi à Londres et à Hong Kong. James est co-directeur artistique d'Igneous, compagnie pour laquelle il danse et chorégraphie chaque production.

James is artistic co-director of Igneous, a company in which he dances and does the choreography for each production.
