Forget him, you speak to me
you give me words and music to prove
that I am worth saving
not something you would lose

remember him, I speak to you
I give you a reason or two
he was my biggest mistake
I can learn from this mistake
we all do

when I'm too tired to pick up my feet
you remind me that I've never been closer to you
I've never been closer to a love song
I can say I need you and that's all I can do
since he was my mistake

if I forget him will I still know
that you are the reason for my smiles so few
and he is the reason for all of my tears
I owe so many things to you

but my heart still beats inside of him
and I am living empty
it's something I'm used to anyway

when I'm too tired to pick up my feet
