Jacob macharia - Birthday

That day;
When the fruit was very much anticipated,
the odd moods to be shunned off,
the 9-months weariness to be shed off,
the lone times to be gotten rid of,
And the non-usual lateness would be kept off.
When I cried while everyone else laughed,
I was blank while everyone else knew what laid ahead,
I was innocent while many wished to ruin me,
And I got confused by their looks while they each pecked me.
When the homestead became all and sundry's reception,
Tossing me up and down,
Wishing me all the luck ahead,
Giggling on all my toddling acts,
And scolding on my unintended scratches.
I now get the sense behind everything,
The tenderness behind every prick,
The devotion behind their efforts,
The trouble behind my mess,
And the reason behind my yearly celebrations.
