Armed with life it self
I trudge on
Knowing where I want to go
It is not your place to judge
It is God's place
And he never judges the way you do

You say I can not do it
You call me black
I am proud to be black
You call me illiterate
I am not illiterate

I work for you
I never complain
I just listen
I just obey
Do you know
Why I never complain?

You call me a thief
A spent vagabond
Look around you
Is their anything to steal?
Is it the rags or the mats?
Is it the china or the vases?

You have never given me a chance
You talk and talk
You never listen
If you did
Then I would have told you

I would have told you
That I went to school
I have read all the books
Then you would ask
What are you doing here?

I am here because I have dependents
I am here because they need me
I am here because I need your money
Not the insults
Not your degrading retrograding statements
I am here because I believe
I can do it
I can do the unbelievable
I can go beyond the obvious
Like others have done
Respect me
The way I do to you

I can do it!
This is just the beginning
The beginning of a new dawn
The end is yet to come
The end will triumph
