Jack Kovacs is a soul fisherman at sea in his mind. Through songwriting, he probes the depths in search of the threads that line all of our shared experiences. And so stories emerge. Some unfold like cinematic journeys. Others reveal themselves once the melodies have long been embedded in your head and heart. His debut EP, "The State Line" features some of his best catches, each one distinct from the last.
Set to be released fall 2014, it combines the sparse but intricate orchestrations of 1970s singer/songwriters like Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell with the intimate acoustic touches of contemporaries like Sufjan Stevens, Tallest Man on Earth, and Bon Iver. He is casting a line out to all open ears, hoping to find those that in the depths of their own souls feel the same way he does. Such intentions may deprive him of potential listeners, but those who remain are the best catch of all.
