Izzy Ruffin - Halloween

A scaly dragon walks by my side,
pillow case bursting with candy.
A witch follows close behind,
eager to get more sweets.
I’m not dressed as a ghost,
or goblin, or anything like that.
I’m wearing my school clothes,
I debated on wearing a mask.
I’m just here for the candy,
do I have to dress up for that?
I look around, searching the streets,
a devil, a hippie, a chicken, a cat.
There’s some crazy costumes out there.
So, I run up to the first house,
with my friend following close behind.
She runs up ahead, ready for candy,
I’m eager to claim whats rightfully mine.
On halloween people become greedy,
and occasionally get into fights.
But for now, I’ll stick to being me,
on this cold, Halloween.
