Graphite and wood no less no more
contains both fantasy and fact.
A poets mind can interact.

Easily with this simple tool.
Creating verse of lasting beauty.
Each poet is a holy fool
following his heart as a rule.

Where do they inspiration find?
Within the pencils graphite core?
A product of the poets mind
an idea pinned down and defined?

Before men wrote their poetry
was committed to memory
and handed down literally
as spoken words traditionally.

The tools available today
ensure small changes can’t creep in.
Is this in fact a better way.
I am not sure so I won’t say.
