ivor .e hogg - Enchantment

Description
I can hear the sound of laughter. From whence it comes I do not know.
Perhaps the fairy host draw near. If I am quiet as can be
Perchance the fairies might appear prepared for joyous revelry.
I’ve only seen them once before, when I was just a little boy.
I fell asleep and then I saw the simple pleasures they enjoy.
Since then alas I’ve tried in vain to duplicate the circumstance.
To see the fairies host again and watch them in their sprightly dance.
It might perhaps have been a dream, a figment of my childish mind.
But moonlight shining on the water persuades me that one day I’ll find.
The perfect place the perfect time as I did once by accident
To see again the fairy race, dancing for the sheer enjoyment.
