Ivan Pine - An Ode

I met a dear and old lady
I wished to know her well,
Really very sharp and bright
And feisty you could tell.

We used to chat about the world
Discuss her life and kids,
For her, respect on my behalf
A friendship we did bid.

So now I hear, sad news indeed
Her time has come and gone,
And left so many memories
For those that she has borne.

It’s been a while, since we last met
On her verandah, wide and cool,
I have known since there and then
For many, a very precious jewel.

Now she’s gone, and those are left
Have to mourn their loss,
And know in soul and heart, she was
A gem above all dross.

Each and all, to say goodbye
In their own, and special way,
I write this to make a note
That, it’s been a darker day!
