Sicily's Mount Etna, Europe's most active volcano, erupted on Sunday and Monday (December 29-30), spewing lava and volcanic ash into the sky, but causing no danger to nearby residents.
The snow-capped volcano, has been quite active over the last few months as a new south eastern crater has opened up.
Etna has erupted many times in recorded history.
