Description

In the eve of day's lasting moments
Toward the sunlight's golden set,
Walks a tired and lonely pilgrim
With his dreams of hopes yet unmet;
His face is so lined with deep furrows,
And his steps seem to slow with each take
For he knows not the end of the journey
Nor the peril that lies in its wake,

The night is fast now approaching
The shadows they all tend to flee
And I hear a faint heart as it's crying,
"Oh Lord, please stay near to me.
The road o'er which I have traveled
Is stained so with heartache and tears
And the darkness on me which is falling
Seems more that my all yesteryears".

Behold ! the night passes, ah! slowly
A tinge of faint pink in the sky,
And a stirring of hope in the bosom
Of the tired and lone passerby.
The glow in the eastern surroundings
Is met with a deeper glow still
For the sun in magnificent beauty
Is rising from earth's ardent hill,

Oh, traveler on life's fleeting highway,
The darkness is yours to pass through,
But as surely your sunset will happen,
Your daybreak will surely come, too;
For God has ordained in his planning
That daytime will follow the night,
And out of the darkest of trails
Will come the most glorious light.

WEEPING MAY ENDURE FOR THE NIGHT, BUT JOY COMETH IN THE MORNING. Ps. 30.5b
