Iraq car bombs kill one
Description
On Monday, two car bombs exploded, killing one and wounding at least 15 others.
The first explosion went off near a government building, prompting emergency services to rush to the scene.
That's when the second blast went off.
The oil-rich city north of Baghdad is contested by Arabs, Kurds and other ethnic minorities and is a frequent scene of bombings like this.
Government figures show that militant attacks were responsible for killing 365 people in September across Iraq, the highest monthly total in two years.
Iraq has seen an average of one major insurgent attack per month since U.S. troops pulled out.
