You studied hard with all your might,
You passed first time because you're bright.
But then upon that fateful night
You drank too much - an extra print.

You drove straight on instead of right
You failed to see the bollard bright,
Or the police car's flashing light.
Your speed was fast, you held on tight.

You smashed a tree - we felt your pain
And you will never drive again.
You fought to live with all your might,
But life said 'No', you lost the fight.

Now your're buried under ground
Where drunken drivers can be found.
At twenty-one you were so smart,
Now you've broken mother's heart.
We'll pine for you for ever more,
Why did you have to break the law?
